The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to meet today, July 3, 2015, in order to resolve the crisis currently rocking the party over the National Assembly leadership.

The APC NEC is made up of President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo; Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; National Leader, Bola Tinubu; the 22 APC state governors and other party leaders.

Leaders of the party, perhaps in anticipation of a heated meeting, have called on members to put their differences aside and embrace peace.

Among those who have issued pleas for calm are APC National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun and former Vice-President of the country, Atiku Abubakar.

The APC was thrown into crisis after Saraki and Dogara defied the party to contest and win the National Assembly positions.

The party had initially conducted a straw poll and chosen Senator Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila as its sole candidates for the Senate Presidency and the House of Reps Speakership.
