'I'm not afraid of Buhari, he can sack me if he wants', minister says

Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan, has dared President Buhari to sack her, following controversial comments.

Alhassan called former Vice President Atiku Abubakar "Nigeria's next President in 2019...God willing" during a Sallah courtesy call at the home of the Turakin Adamawa.

Asked by BBC Hausa if her endorsement of Atiku won't get her axed from the cabinet, given that Buhari hasn't ruled out a reelection come 2019, Aisha said: "I am not afraid of Buhari, he can sack me from work".

Pulse has learned from presidency sources that 'Mama Taraba' already knows she won't make the cut when the cabinet is reshuffled in a few days.

According to Premium Times, Alhassan says she'll choose Atiku over Buhari if the latter's name is on the ballot in 2019.

"Atiku is my godfather even before I joined politics,” she said. “And again, Baba Buhari did not tell us that he is going to run in 2019.

“Let me tell you today that if Baba said he is going to contest in 2019, I swear to Allah, I will go before him and kneel and tell him that ‘Baba I am grateful for the opportunity you gave me to serve your government as a minister but Baba just like you know I will support only Atiku because he is my godfather. If Atiku said he is going to contest.

“If because of what I said, I am sacked, it will not bother me because I believe in Allah, that my time has elapsed that is why…

“Baba is not a mad man like those calling for my sack. They have been sending it and spreading that if Baba sees this I will be sacked.”

Presidency insiders say a cabinet reshuffle is imminent and could happen in a few days.

Alhassan could be one of those dropped, top ranking Aso Rock officials disclosed.

Aisha Alhassan represented the people of Taraba North in the Senate between 2011 and 2015.

She made an unsuccessful run for the governorship of Taraba but lost that contest to Darius Ishaku.
