Dancing Senator wins Osun PDP primary election

The Osun PDP primaries which held on Saturday, July 21, 2018, was supervised by the Bayelsa state Governor, Seriake Dickson.

Senator Adeleke got 1, 569 votes and his closest contender, Akin Ogunbiyi, 1, 562 votes after a recount was done.

The Osun PDP primaries which held today, Saturday, July 21, 2018, was supervised by the Bayelsa state Governor, Seriake Dickson.

Dickson in his statement after the election, said"We are here for the party, and not for any of the aspirants.

“We recounted at the request of some agents. This is a contest amongst brothers. No aspirant is being shortchanged. This exercise marks the beginning of a very long journey.

“By the power conferred of this committee, Senator Adeleke scored majority of votes is hereby declared and returned winner of this election."

According to the Bayelsa Governor, the total number of delegates was 3, 448, out of that number, 3, 246 accredited voters cast their votes and 56 votes were void.

Also speaking on the outcome of the election, Babangida Aliyu, former Governor of Niger state, urged anybody who is not satisfied with the results to approach the PDP appeal committee, The Cable reports.

Adeleke denies certificate forgery allegation

Senator Adeleke recently reactedto reports on social media saying that he did not use his original O level certificate when he contested the Osun West Senatorial District by-election in July 2017.

A group known as Renewal Youth Movement called out the lawmaker, threatening to drag him to court if he does not present his certificates.

According to the lawmaker, the allegations levelled against him are false.

The Senator’s younger brother, Dele Adeleke who spoke to Punch on his behalf, said “How can anybody believe such a story? You know the kind of opposition that rose up against him last year. Do you think the APC would not have raised the issues if he did not have the authentic certificates?

“Also, you are free to go to the school he attended and verify. That will be better than hearing from me or him. That story is not true and it should be discountenanced.”

So far, the All Progressives Congress (APC),African Democratic Congress (ADC), Social Democratic Party (SDP) have announced their candidates for the September 22, 2018 Osun governorship election.

They are: Gboyega Isiaka Oyetola, the Chief of Staff to Governor Rauf Aregbesola,Alhaji Kazeem Adio a former Secretary to the Osun State Government and Senator Iyiola Omisore, a former Deputy Governor of Osun state, respectively.
