Obanikoro to be made minister for stepping down for Agbaje

Obanikoro recently made a U-turn and promised to work with Agbaje after earlier calling the PDP’s primaries a sham and taking legal steps against the party while also engaging party leader, Bode George in a war of words.

Former Lagos State Governorship Aspirant, Musiliu Obanikoro is said to have stepped down for his opponent and winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries, Jimi Agbaje, due to the promise of a ministerial appointment by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Obanikoro recently made a U-turn and promised to work with Agbaje after earlier calling the PDP’s primaries a sham and taking legal steps against the party while also engaging party leader, Bode George in a war of words.

Jonathan is said to have waded into the battle and urged “Koro” to concede defeat by presenting him with the chance to become a full-fledged Minister and not a Minister of State as he was before.

According to the Director-General of the Koro Campaign Organisation, Adetokunbo Pearse:

“We have listened to the President’s appeal and have decided to settle out of court. Obanikoro will return as a minister but part of the terms is that he will be given a full ministerial position. We were told that he would head a ministry but we were not told what ministry in particular.”

“He will help the President to campaign in Lagos and we will also work with Agbaje. We are willing to work with Chief Bode George and we will reconcile with the party,” Pearse added.

A source within the Presidency also confirmed the development to Premium Times.

“He reached a deal to be made a full minister in January and to continue holding his position if President Goodluck Jonathan gets re-elected in February,” the source said.

Obanikoro was also reportedly promised a major role in Jonathan’s re-election campaign in the South West.
