Man hacks wife to death for failing to obey him

A middle-aged man, Farida Banti, has been apprehended by the Niger State Police Command for allegedly killing his wife over a provocative argument that ensued between them.

The suspect said it was extreme provocation that made him kill his wife

The 39-year-old suspect of Hungu village in the Mariga Local Government Area of the state was arrested on Sunday for killing his wife Hajo, also known as maijari.

According to reports, the suspect had earlier sent his wife to her parent's house to "learn manners".

He, however, killed the deceased with a cutlass after he demanded that she return to his house which she refused to oblige.

"I inflicted deep cuts on my wife, which resulted in her death because she refused to obey me.

“In fact, it was extreme provocation that made me kill my wife," he said while responding to questions from journalist.

He further disclosed that he felt bad killing her, insisting that "women must learn to obey their husbands so that what happened to my wife will not happen to them."

Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, who confirmed the incidence revealed that the suspect has confessed to his crime and would be charged to court as soon as investigation on the case is completed.
