Members of group charged with criminal conspiracy

Olabisi Kolawole, Police Public Relations Officer told Punch on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 that some shi'tes have been remanded in prison custody and the case adjourned.

 

Some members of the shi'a Islamic movement who clashed with the Nigerian Army about 2 weeks ago have been reportedly charged with criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbances among other charges at the chief magistrate court Zaria.

Olabisi Kolawole, Police Public Relations Officer told on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 confirmed that some shi'tes have been remanded in prison custody and the case adjourned.

Although it is not confirmed if the accused have any legal representation or if their pleas have been taken into consideration, reports say they are being remanded in prison.

Ibrahim El-zakyzaky. the Shi'a movement leader was taken into custody by the Nigeria Army before he was released to the police for further investigation.

About 20 persons were killed in the bloody clash between the members of the Shi'a movement and the Nigerian Army. The Nigerian Army accused the group's leader of attempting to assassinate the Chief of Army staff, Tukur Buratai.
