Kidnappers of five polish sailors and 16 other hostages are yet to negotiate terms of release with the government or any relevant agencies.

Following the hijack of a polish cargo ship by Nigerian pirates on Friday, November 27, the legitimacy of Karol Tomczak, son to one of the abducted sailors, who contacted Pulse earlier, has been confirmed.

The insiderspoke to Karol and his wife, seeking update on the incident and identity of his father, Roman. But they refused to comment, on the ground that they are in contact with the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ship owner, noting that they would only speak to journalists upon the Ministry's permission.

"I have already spoken with son of one of the sailors (Karol Tomczak) and his wife. Unfortunately they don’t want to speak with journalists at all. They told me that they are in touch with polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and owner of the ship, but don’t want to tell anything without their permission. They also promised that if there would be any new information they call to me",Pulse source said.

The ship, "Szafir", was hijacked in the early hours of Friday.

The cargo ship, we gathered, has been sailing from the Belgian port of Antwerp to Onee, Rivers State, and it belongs to Polish company Euroafrica, based in Szczecin, North Western Poland.
