The children are being administered Oral Polio Vaccines (OPV) and antigens against other child-killer diseases.

Health workers try to board a vehicle taking them to designated centres to immunise children.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the immunisation that commenced on Saturday would end on Tuesday.

Alhaji Abdullahi Sarawa, the Immunisation Officer in charge of Kafinhausa Local Government, said that about 90, 000 children were targeted for immunisation against polio in the area.

He said that the council deployed over 300 health workers to the various communities to ensure effective coverage.

Sarawa added that the council also provided 90 cartons of candies for distribution to the targeted children.

The council Chairman, Alhaji Haruna Usman, told NAN that he had instructed community leaders to ensure effective monitoring of the exercise.

Haruna said the council also directed ward heads to work closely with immunisation personnel in the mobilisation of the people as well as ensure they helped to resolve cases of vaccines rejection.

In the same vein, Auyo LGC says no fewer than 33, 000 children were targeted for immunisation against poliomyelitis.
