American President thanked Buhari for stopping terrorist attack in US - Report

Details of the call were revealed by a source in the Department of State Services (DSS) to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, December 27.

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari (R) greets U.S. President Barack Obama before the start of the second plenary session of the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington April 1, 2016.

Details of the call were revealed by a source in the Department of State Services (DSS) to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, December 27.

“About six months ago, we burst a terrorist attack that was to happen in the United States. This earned the service a letter of commendation. In fact, President Barack Obama placed a call to President Muhammadu Buhari to acknowledge what we did,” the source said according to The Nation.

“We did not make it a media issue because before you know it, there will be editorials asking us whether we had addressed security challenges in Nigeria before helping the US.

“But the speed with which things are changing and expanding around us, I can tell you that security challenge is becoming more globalized. We have been taken into confidence as a nation better than what it was before,” the source added.

The DSS is also said to have arrested one of the worlds most wanted terrorists leading security agents from all over the world to visit Nigeria to interrogate the suspect who remains unnamed because he is still “undergoing profiling”.

The suspect is said to have been responsible for the killing of some expatriates in the country between 2012 and 2013.
