Police ban speed breakers in communities

The use of different forms of speed breakers or limiting materials on highways have been banned by the Police in Zamfara.

Zamfara state Governor - Abdulaziz Yari

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Adejo Gabriel, announced when he addressed journalists in his office in Gusau on Tuesday.

Many communities mount speed breakers by using heavy firewood, logs, big stones, used tyres and other waste products to block the roads passing through their areas and villages.

Many motorists, especially trailer drivers found it very difficult to meander between such speed breakers.

This situation, he said, usually lead to accidents and traffic jams that last for hours before they were cleared for people to pass to their next destinations.

The police therefore warned that anyone caught using anything on the road in order to divert motorists would face the full wrath of the law.
