NSCDC records 89 cases in 2017

The Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr Orndiir Terzungwe, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Kaduna.

Terzungwe  said out of the 89 cases 64 were child abuse, while 25 are criminals cases.“We were able to  get four  convictions on the child abuse cases, while investigation is ongoing; some cases were referred to the Ministry for Women Affairs and the Ministry of Justice for further action.

He said the cases included child labour, rape, sale of infants, domestic violence and  forced  marriage.The Spokesman said out of the 25 criminal cases recorded, nine convictions were secured, while 16 were  pending in court.

He said the the criminal cases included conspiracy, breach of trust,cheating and disobedience to law and order.According to him, the command will consolidate on its achievements,adding,”we will re-double the performances of the command to maintain law and order, protect critical national assets and infrastructure”.
