Gov. Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa has commended traditional rulers and community leaders across the country for their supports and encouragement aimed at eradicating polio virus.

The governor gave the commendation in Dutse on Saturday while speaking at a Durbar organised to mark the 20th anniversary on the throne of the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Nuhu Sanusi.
``I want to commend our traditional leaders for their tireless effort in eradicating polio in Nigeria.
``We are proud of them because they sensitised our people in their respective domains to the dangers of the disease and the need to present their children for immunisation’’, Badaru added.
He also commended the efforts of the traditional institutions for mobilising their people to seek for western and Islamic education with a view to eradicating illiteracy in society.
Badaru pledged that his administration would continue to collaborate with the Dutse Emirate Council in promoting, peace, unity and economic prosperity of the state and the nation in general
