Army, Police avert another bomb blast in Maiduguri

The explosives were planted by suspected members of the terror group, Boko Haram.

A joint team of the Police and the military on  Monday, February 1, neutralised materials suspected to be Improvised Explosive Devises (IED), which was planted near the Borno State Pilgrims Welfare Board's office in Maiduguri.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Borno State Police Command, Mr Victor Isuku, the explosives were planted by suspected members of the terror group, Boko Haram.

"I can confirm that it was a joint police/military operation that demobilised the IEDs but thank God, no live was lost or injuries recorded", Isuku told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview.

It was gathered that no casualty was recorded.

Pulse recalls that at least 20 people were killed after three female suicide bombers detonated IEDs in Chibok, headquarters of the Chibok Local Government Area of the state last month.
