Maj-Gen, 7 others killed in communal clash

The attack is reported to be a reprisal attack fueled by a political conflict.

A Major-General Lawrence Ugbo was reported to have been one of the casualties of the clash that's rumoured to be driven by a political conflict.

The incident was confirmed by the Otukpo LGA Chairman, George Alli, who said, "Several persons, including Maj-Gen Lawrence Ugbo were killed and his body burnt to ashes."

Residents of the community claim that the crisis was as a result of an attack launched on the former chairman of the LGA alongside some of his supporters. His loyalists were said to have been responsible for the reprisal attack.

However, Alli denied this claim, saying, "The clash has nothing to do with politics, it was a land tussle that caused the incident."
