The ex-governor of Katsina state, Ibrahim Shehu Shema has been declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following resistance of several invitations.

According to a report by Leadership Newspaper, Shema was declared wanted on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 by the anti-graft body over diversion of the state's fund and embezzlement.

Wilson Uwujaren, Head of Media and Publicity, EFCC made this known in a recent statement saying: “The former governor is wanted in connection with a case of criminal conspiracy, inflation of contract, abuse of office, diversion of funds, and embezzlement running into billions of naira.

The statement further read, “The former governor ignored several invitations by the commission since December 1, 2015 when he was first summoned by the agency.”
