Buhari apologizes to Nigerians for petrol shortage

Buhari expressed regret at the situation today, December 22, 2015, while presenting the 2016 budget before a joint session of the National Assembly.

President Muhammadu Buhari has apologized to Nigerians over the current fuel scarcity which is plaguing the country.

Buhari expressed regret at the situation today, December 22, 2015, while presenting the 2016 budgetbefore a joint session of the National Assembly.

The president also said that the scarcity is the “unfortunate result of speculators and resistance to change.”

“The current fuel scarcity with long queues at petrol stations all over the country causing social dislocation is very unfortunate,” Buhari said.

“Government profoundly apologizes to Nigerians for this prolonged hardship and misery. It is as a result of market speculators and resistance to change by some stakeholders.

“Government is working very hard to end these shortages and bring fuel to the pumps all over the country,” he added.

Buhari also said that the price of fuel in the country would remain at N87 per litre for now.
