Senator withdraws N20bn suit against Obasanjo

The Senator, who represents the Ogun East Senatorial District, is said to have claimed that he withdrew the suit due to “ongoing settlement talks” between him and Obasanjo.

Buruji Kashamu

Senator Buruji Kashamu has withdrawn a N20 billion libel suit he filed against former President, Olusegun Obasanjo.

The case was instituted at an Abuja High Court and heard by Justice Valentine Ashi.

Justice Ashi is said to have struck out the suit on May 26, 2015, after Kashamu informed the court of his intention to terminate the matter.

Obasanjo’s lawyers however stated, according to Punch, that they were not aware of any such talks.

Kashamu filed the suit against Obasanjo after the former President described him as a drug baron.

The Senator is currently facing extradition to the US to face drug charges which were levelled against him in 1998.
