US not happy with President over delay in the appointment of ministers

Though the visit was successful, vis-a-vis the renewed ties, the source said Nigerians should not expect any form of assistance from the US, until Buhari sets up his cabinet.

News reaching Pulse reveals that the United States is not willing to act on its pledges of assistance until President Buhari sets up his cabinet and names his ministers.

According to THISDAY Newspapers, a source at the meeting when President Buhari met with US officials, said that "the US officials were somewhat with the president’s team during the visit, which comprised mainly civil servants."

The source also said that "that the US reckoned that the civil servants would not be able to address any of the country’s requests or provide policy direction until Buhari sets up a team that would help him realise his plans for the country."

Adding that President Obama also mentioned to President Buhari that he expects him to come to the US with important members of his cabinet, so they could discuss fruitfully.

Though the visit was successful, vis-a-vis the renewed ties, the source said Nigerians should not expect any form of assistance from the US, until Buhari sets up his cabinet.

This stand by the US was also reiterated by Mr. John Kerry, the US secretary of state, when President Buhari met with him, the source said.

You will recall that President Buhari went on an official trip to the US on the invitation of the United States President, Barack Obama.
