Hundreds of female victims raped by terrorists while in captivity

Boko Haram terrorists raped many of the women who they captured and kept imprisoned, the former captives have revealed.

A number of women were also impregnated by the group, a move which officials have termed a deliberate strategy meant to create a generation of militants in Nigeria.

Some of the captives explained their ordeals to The New York Times in Borno State.

“They married me,” Hamsatu, a 25-year-old, who is four months pregnant for a Boko Haram member said.

She said she was also forced to sleep with other insurgents apart from her “husband.”

“They chose the ones they wanted to marry. If anybody shouts, they said they would shoot them,” she added.

Another captive, 30-year-old Yahauwa, explained that she and other women had been locked in a big room where the terrorists came to select who to sleep with at will.

She spoke to NY Times after testing positive for HIV.

“Is it from the people who forced me to have affairs with them?” she had asked upon receiving the diagnosis.

“When they came, they would select the one they wanted to sleep with. They said, ‘If you do not marry us, we will slaughter you’” Yahauwa said.

The sect is believed to have been deliberately impregnating the women in order to produce a generation of terrorists.

The Nigerian military, last month, rescued about a 1000 women from Boko Haram stronghold, Sambisa Forest.
