Army accuses foreign NGO’s of peddling false stories

He said that foreign media outfits and non-governmental and civil society organisations, are spreading false stories of human rights abuses by the Nigerian Army.

 

The Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Col. Sani Usman, while speaking to newsmen, revealed that some foreign organisations are peddling false stories about the Army's handling of the on-going war against terror.

Adding that the foreign organisations, are being aided by their Nigerian counterparts.

He said "the implication of such act is not lost on us as it is capable of thwarting the gains in the fight against terrorism and insurgency.”

Adding that "We would not condone any human rights abuses. Where there are allegations of human rights violation by any individual or group, this would be thoroughly investigated and those found guilty would be brought to book in accordance with extant laws."
