Cameroonian troops have killed 143 members of Boko Haram, the country’s government says.

The terrorists were said to have attacked a town in Northern Kolofata on Monday, January 12, but were repelled by troops.

This was disclosed via a statement released by Cameroon’s Minister of Information, Issa Tchiroma Bakary.

“It is by far the heaviest toll sustained by the criminal sect Boko Haram since it began launching its barbaric attacks against our land, people and goods,” Bakary said.

The statement also added that that the Cameroonian military had engaged the terrorists in a five-hour battle at the end of which one soldier was dead and four others injured.

Meanwhile, Boko Haram is believed to have slaughtered about 2,000 people in Baga, Borno State in Nigeria after a six-day onslaught.
