“I believe sincerely of the integrity of the 8th Senate where I have been privileged to serve as the deputy senate leader. Between yesterday and today there has been the termination and appointment of certain persons in the position of the Secretary General of the Federation.

“Those who have tried to bring down the institution of the senate, God will vindicate us before their eyes. The issue of SGF has been vindicated.  Maina also emanated from senate.

“Why it is necessary to make this statement when we started this crusade, this same people we are fighting for, Nigerians, became gullible.

“Every conceivable thing has been done to bring down the name of the senate.

What is important and instructive for me is to implore all my colleagues.

“I will remain proud of this senate even in my grave. It is important that the pending committees charged  with these investigations expeditiously turn out their investigations. This is why I am calling on committee with pending investigations to do so. We must continue to keep the flag flying," he said.

In his remarks, the Saraki commended President Muhammadu Buhari on the sack of Lawal.

He also reiterated the support of the Senate to the President’s anti-corruption crusade.

“It has been a tough journey in order to protect the integrity of this institution. I want to commend the President for doing what is right. In this matter we would vouch our commitment to fighting corruption.
