Filmmaker to launch online TV channel

The African cultural medium will offer an extensive range of content across several genres made up of documentaries, drama, interviews and movies, including several of Kelani’s past and present productions.

tundekelani.tv to stream live from 7 August.

Nigerian cinematographer Tunde Kelani is preparing to showcase African culture to the rest of the world through the launch of a new online platform called tundekelani.tv

The online channel is set to go live on Friday, 7 August, 2015.

According to Newsverge, the veteran filmmaker explained the reason for venturing into this, he said: “It is an attempt to respond to the yearnings of our teeming fans of rich African themed contents on the go.

“Distributing films or other contents physically are becoming increasingly difficult, revenues are lost on a daily basis and content owners are at the mercy of the menacing activities of pirates.

“I think it is just natural, expedient and sensible to take contents closer to the consumers on demand and in terms that suit all the parties involved”, the award-winning director added.

Kelani has been in the film industry for over 21 years and has worked with several Nigerian’s most talented actors including Funke Akindele, Kunle Afolayan and Kemi ‘Lala’ Akindoju.

Tundekelani.tv will offer an extensive range of content across several genres made up of documentaries, drama, interviews and movies. Several of Kelani’s past and present productions including "Campus Queen", "Agogo Ewo", "Oleku", "Maami" and more will be aired on the channel. It will also feature content from several different producers and creators. “Palmwine Drinkards” by Amos Tutuola will also be shown.

The African cultural medium  will be available via web and mobile devices.
