There are some who believe that all the leading ladies in Yoruba movies are light skinned. Well this is so false.

There are close to if not over a million Yoruba-language films available till date. These films are usually expressive, dramatic and emotional, but what film isn’t?

Pulse Movies separates facts from fiction in our list about these productions.

Myth 1: All the actors are Yoruba.

Truth: This fact is false.

Not all the actors who star in Yoruba speaking movies are actually Yoruba. They are quite a few actors who are at the top of their careers in the industry but they are actually non-indigenes.

Fathia Balogun is originally from Delta state, Kelvin Ikeduba was born in Delta State, Mercy Aigbe is originally from Edo state and Liz Dasilva is actually Togolese!

Myth 2: Yoruba speaking actors only star in Yoruba films.

Truth: This fact is false.

There are many Yoruba speaking actors who who star in both English speaking and Yoruba movies.

There are the likes of Yemi Solade, Funke Akindele, Clarion Chukwura, Bimbo Akintola, Rachel Oniga, and Rykardo Agbor are prominent in movies in both languages.

Myth 3: All the leading ladies are light skinned.

Truth: This fact is false.

There are some who believe that all the leading ladies are light skinned.

The industry is made up of a host of many dark skinned beauties including Akintola, Akindele, Susan Odusanya and Eniola Badmus to mention a few.
