3rd film in series is really happening

11 years after movie lovers watched Hathaway grow from an awkward teen to princess Mia Thermopolis, Walt Disney Pictures is bringing the dream of a third film to reality.

In 2015, Tracking Board reported that the third installment of the hit romantic comedy undefinedwas in works at Disney.

It's 2016 and Gary Marshal who directed the first two films, has confirmed a third film in the series.

According to the filmmaker, he's planing a "Princess Diaries 3" with Anne Hathaway, who played the female lead in the past two films.

“I was with Anne Hathaway a couple weeks ago, it looks like we want to do Princess Diaries 3 in Manhattan,” Marshall told PEOPLE. “Anne Hathaway is very pregnant, so we have to wait until she has the baby and then I think we’re going to do it," he said to People.
