MTV Base announces Africa version of show

The weekly show which will go debut in April 2016, will be recorded in Johannesburg.

youth entertainment channel MTV (DStv channel 130) has announced the premiere of a local version of its global hit entertainment show,

The announcement was made by International superstar rapper, LL Cool J, via the channel's social media platforms - Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

The weekly show which will be recorded in Johannesburg, will go live in April 2015, with the first season comprising of 13 half hour episodes featuring vocal showdowns between top celebrities and entertainment figures, complete with dancers, wigs, costumes, props and tons of swag.

Each battle will consist of 2 celebrities “syncing” or miming to popular music tracks of their choice.  Each contestant must sync to two songs – one of which will be by an African artist, and the winner will be chosen by the live studio audience.

Lip Sync Battle Africa will be hosted by two celebrities which will be announced later.

You can watch "Lip Sync Battle Africa" on MTV every Thursday from April 14 at 7:50PM and on MTV Base from April 16, at 10:30PM every Saturday.
