Writer-Director signs to global talent management company

With a new movie set to premiere soon at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, Ruhorahoza has been signed to the first global management company to focus on African talent.

Restless Talent Management, the first global management company to focus on African talent, has signed Rwandese writer-director Kivu Ruhorahoza.

Ruhorahoza’s new movie, ‘Things Of The Aimless Wanderer’, which he wrote, produced, shot and directed, will premiere at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival (January 22 – February 1) as part of the New Frontier program. The film will then have its European premiere at the Rotterdam Film Festival (January 21 – February 1).

Ruhorahoza’s first feature film, ‘Grey Matter’, received a Jury Special Mention for Best Emerging Filmmaker and won the Best Actor award at the 2011 TriBeCa Film Festival. The film went on to win the Grand Prize at the Tübingen French Film Festival, the Best Director and Signis Awards at the Cordoba African Film Festival, the Jury Prize at the Khouribga African Film Festival, and several others.

His work has also been showcased at prestigious museums such as the MoMA in New York, the ICA in London, the Tate Modern (as part of Olafur Eliason's Little Sun project) and at universities including the Bayreuth University, King's College, University of British Columbia, University of Toronto, and University of Michigan.

“Kivu has a very original, self-assured voice and is one of the emerging true auteurs of African cinema. He’s already made a name for himself in the festival world, and we’re excited to accompany him in this next stage of his career”, said Restless Talent Management’s Marie Lora-Mungai and Tendeka Matatu.

Next on Ruhorahoza’s agenda is another feature film project entitled JOMO. The project has already received a development grant from the Hubert Bals Fund and took part in the Atelier Cinemas du Monde at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, the 2012 CineMart Rotterdam, and the Boost! Binger Film Lab.
