Director reveals why Loki scene was cut off

Contrary to expectations, Tom Hiddleston (Loki) is missing from the box office ruling 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'. Director Joss Whedon gives reasons.

Loki is absent from 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'

In November 2014, Idris Elba who plays Heimdall in Marvel's 'Thor', revealed that he would be starring in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' alongside Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor).

The much anticipated movie is out, and while Heimdall does star in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Loki is obviously absent.

In an interview with MTV, writer and director, Joss Whedon reveals what happened to Loki's expected appearance.

“Tom is not in the movie… Idris misspoke… twice,” Whedon said “We did shoot something and it didn’t play. The movie has so much, is so filled and we didn’t want it to feel overstuffed. I really wanted to have Loki in it but I understood the decision, ‘Now there are too many voices in the chorus.’ At some point the embarrassment of riches is actually embarrassing.”

Marvel and Disney’s Avengers: Age of Ultron is currently the undefined in domestic box office history.
