In her upcoming book, Rebel Rising, which is released April 2, Wilson reveals that she didn't lose her virginity until she was 35. Its goal is to show young people that they should not feel pressured to lose their virginity.
"Not everyone has to lose their virginity as a teenager," Wilson tells PEOPLE. "People can wait until they're ready or wait until they're a little more mature," she adds. Wilson emphasises there is no need to wait until the age of 30, but at the same time young people should not feel pressure.
In her book, Wilson describes how, as a teenager, she avoided talking about sex because she felt embarrassed. "There was one vague moment where I said to my best friend, 'Oh, yeah, I did it to get it over with when I was 23,'" she recalls. "Just to really avoid questions."
The 44-year-old actress admits that if she were 20 years younger, her experience and discovery of her own sexuality would beffere "completely dint." "It's absolutely incredible, if I had been born 20 years later, I probably would have explored my sexuality more. I just knew I was attracted to men and it was normal," Wilson says.
Rebel Wilson is currently engaged to designer, Ramona Agruma. The couple welcomed their first child, Royce Lillian, who was born via surrogate in November 2022.
