Terry G, it is time you go for counselling

Terry G should go for some needed time out to save his career. His unprofessionalism will likely be the ruin of his career.

DJ Phriz is a protege of Nigeria's biggest disc jockey DJ Jimmy Jatt. The veteran DJ has now demanded Terry G to publicly apologize to his protege.

Terry G's behaviour highlights his fall from the top of the music industry to the bottom of it. In 2008, Terry G was the new boy in the industry whose ghetto-style production helped create a sub genre of ghetto pop music in Nigeria. In 2009 he became a household name with his infectious hit 'Free Madness'. His freestyle type of music helped usher in a new style of writing music in Nigeria where spontaneity was chosen over well thought out lyrics.

Also Terry G's eccentric persona helped push his brand further and made him a national star. He was seen as the mad man of Nigerian music who had banging beats and catchphrases to match his weird persona.

Those were the good old days for Terry G. Now, the singer/producer slips into irrelevancy day by day. His unprofessionalism and disturbing behaviour has annoyed the industry and baffled his core fans. Lately Terry G has not been able to compose a hit. Now with this ugly episode with a DJ, Terry G has shot himself in the leg.

DJs are very important to any artiste. It is in the best interest of a singer or musician to have a cordial relationship with influential DJs who can make or mar his career. Going about dissing a DJ or assaulting a DJ will lead to big trouble. DJs are known to stick by each other and in this case I will be highly surprised if they don't. Also DJ Jimmy Jatt is involved in this and being Nigeria's biggest DJ he will be highly influential in this matter. Terry G should go ahead and apologize publicly.

After apologizing, Terry G has to do a whole lot more. It is time for him to wash up his act and behave responsibly. It is time for Terry G to go for some counselling. He surely needs it. He is not behaving like a normal person. While he is busy tripping on stage he hasn't yet realized that his spot has been taken by a younger and more energetic singer known as Small Doctor.

This is the nature of the game for you, once you slip another person is there to take up your spot. Terry G has to save his career. His career is dying off and he needs to do something about it.
