Is Tekno the next big celebrity?

You cant run away or hide from him right now. The 23-year-old singer known as

Tekno has had a string of hits but within the last year the Triple MG singer has turned up the heat by dropping one hit track after the other. His new jawn 'Pana' will likely slug it out with Phyno's 'Fada Fada' as the song of the year.

Tekno no doubt is a music star but the question is will he transcend just music and become a celebrity. The Nigerian music scene has not been prolific in creating big celebrities from the gate such as Davido and Wizkid. What we have now are popular singers who are in transit of becoming celebrities. Artistes such as Reekado Banks, Kiss Daniel, Falz and Adekunle Gold fall into this category.

The hunt for the next superstar celeb leads to Tekno, the Bauchi born singer. The light skin tattooed act has what it takes to be that big music celebrity but he needs to apply himself more celebrity wise.

What's the biggest piece of news that Tekno has been involved in within the last year? In January 2016, the singer was involved in an African scandal in the country of Tanzania.

After taking photos with Tanzanian actressElizabeth 'Lulu' Michael, Tanzanians started posting R.I.P in the comment section of his Instagram page.

This led Tekno to delete all the photos on his Instagram page and release a press statement. Apart from that Tekno hasn't been on the celeb pages for anything major.

For a music celebrity, there has to be some buzz beyond the music. Who is Tekno seeing? Who is he dating? What designer clothes is he wearing? Are we interested in his personal life beyond the mp3 files he drops online?

For now, Tekno isn't generating much interest beyond the music. He has what it takes to be a superstar, a huge celebrity but right now he is more concerned with the music than anything else.

This approach makes sense for Tekno I guess since he is probably concentrating on having a tonne of hits before creating content and buzz for his celeb life.

My money is on Tekno to be the next Davido or Wizkid in terms of having that huge and immense celebrity lifestyle. His simmering hot video 'Pana' is everywhere. It will soon be time to put his brand everywhere.
