Actor Josh Brolin said Wednesday that he did not plan to debut his new fiancée at the Cannes Film Festival premiere of his latest film "Sicario," but it was "just the right thing to do." Brolin, 47, stepped out on the red carpet on Tuesday night with Kathryn Boyd, a former model, who showcased her sparkling diamond engagement ring.

Talk show host David Letterman bids farewell on final 'Late Show'

Comedian David Letterman will sign off for the last time on CBS's "Late Show" on Wednesday, concluding a 33-year career on late-night television with a show that promises to be full of surprises, a run across the stage and his final Top Ten List. An 82-year-old Michael Caine gets a massage and 77-year-old Jane Fonda's wig falls off and her makeup is streaked by tears in "Youth", a Cannes competition film that shows what a drag it is getting old no matter how wealthy you are. Both actors, as well as co-star Harvey Keitel, 76, said on Wednesday after a screening of Italian director Paolo Sorrentino's film, set among wealthy retirees in a posh Swiss resort, that there was no disguising who they are at this age.

When actor George Clooney was handed a script to play an angry, 55-year-old man in the Walt Disney Co film "Tomorrowland," his first thought was, "Why did you write that for me?" Clooney, 54, is known for portraying suave, charismatic leading men, but for "Tomorrowland," out in theaters on Friday, the actor told Reuters he reveled in playing grumpy old guy Frank Walker.

'Sicario' with Emily Blunt as FBI agent brings drug wars to Cannes

A film that Canadian director Denis Villeneuve says is meant to break "a cover of silence" about the brutality of the Mexican drug trade and the complicity of users in the violence that feeds their habits blasted its way into Cannes on Tuesday. "Sicario", which means hitman in Latin America, is an action-packed thriller in which agents cross territorial and legal boundaries.

Streisand to recount life and career in memoir due in 2017

Veteran singer, actress and director Barbra Streisand, the top-selling female music artist of all time, will recount her six decades in show business in a memoir due in 2017, publishers Viking said on Wednesday. It will be the first authorized autobiography from the 73-year-old star, in which she will also delve into memories of her childhood.

Clooney finds optimism at heart of a promising 'Tomorrowland'

In a break from the sea of dystopian offerings aimed at young adult audiences, the world of tomorrow is given a glossy, Disney makeover in the studio's latest big budget spectacular. 'Candy-wrapper music' hits sweet spot in Cannes 'Youth' movie

American composer David Lang has written what he calls "candy-wrapper music" for the Cannes competition film "Youth" in which Michael Caine plays a retired musician wrestling with old age. It won't win him another Pulitzer Prize, the award he got in 2008 for his haunting "Little Match Girl Passion", and the music he composed for the film's candy wrapper scenes wasn't even used.
