On October 1, 2014 Nigeria turns 54. Popular search engine Google paid tribute to the African Giant with a brilliant doodle (special, temporary alteration of its customary Google logo) on its homepage.

What makes this doodle quite fascinating is its spot-on relevance and unique cultural features.
The doodle showcases three couples representing the main tribes in Nigeria – Yoruba, Hausa and Ibo (depicted as Nigeria’s President Jonathan and the First Lady).
The couples are also seated in the three most popular means of transport in the country – a tricycle (popular called ‘Keke Marwa’), a bus (popularly called ‘Danfo’) and a motorbike (better known as ‘Okada’).
