Is Speaker sending a message to Bola Tinubu?

Dogara further compared the trend of godfatherism to corruption saying that it must also be killed.

House of Reps Speaker, Yakubu Dogara

House of Representatives Speaker, Yakubu Dogara has posted a series of messages on Twitter condemning the trend of ‘godfatherism’ in Nigeria.

Dogara further compared the trend to corruption saying that it must also be killed.

He tweeted:

“Why do certain godfathers' security rest on the insecurity of those they claimed to have helped to power!”

“Why should the success or rising profile of a godson turn into the godfather's insecurity? Why?”

“Are godfathers true leaders? True leaders raise Leaders while godfathers busy themselves in raising sycophants.”

“I share the pains of a generation that's outwardly free but with lots of fetters on the inside firmly anchored on godfathers.”

“After killing corruption the next thing to kill is godfatherism. In fact it's corruption in another form. So let's kill both.”

“With godfathers always breathing on d necks of their godsons who hold public offices, we can't kill corruption/make progress.”

Dogara’s comments come on the heels of rumours that All Progressives Congress (APC) leader and former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu is at loggerheads with his successor, Babatunde Fashola.

The crisis is said to have been worsened after Fashola said that the recent smear campaign against him was being sponsored by persons who didn’t want him to occupy a federal office, a comment supposedly made in reference to Tinubu and Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

Meanwhile, Tinubu has remained silent on Dogara’s emergence as Speaker after the latter defied the APC to contest and win the position instead of the party’s chosen candidate, Femi Gbajabiamila.
