President meets Anambra's Governor Obiano in Abuja

The upcoming Anambra gubernatorial election was one of the topics discussed.

The president revealed the meeting on his official Twitter account , promising that the government will ensure a free and fair process takes place in Anambra state's upcoming gubernatorial election on Novermber 18.

He posted, "Today I received Governor Obiano at the State House. The Federal & State Govts will work together to ensure free & fair elections next month".

President Buhari also met with Ondo state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu and Minister of Solid Minerals, Kayode Fayemi at the State House on Tuesday.

While addressing State House correspondents after the meeting, Governor Obiano said the president is a fan of hardworking governors like him regardless of party affiliations.

He said, "He (President Buhari) likes governors like me who are hardworking, who are delivering on what people can see, who are bringing dividends of democracy to their people, that's what the president wants.

"He doesn't care about your party, he wants to know that you are doing well in this area, in that area, and that's how a president should work."

He also promised that his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), isn't interested in rigging election and promised a fair process.

"We do not believe in rigging, APGA has never rigged an election. All we want is for the umpires to be unbiased - free and fair election - and you will get the result," he said.

Governor Obiano will face competition for the gubernatorial seat against Oseloka Obaze of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Tony Nwoye of the All Progressives' Congress (APC), and 34 other candidates.
