Gunmen raid reportedly leaves 20 dead

A resident of the area, while speaking with newsmen on Friday, September 8, said the victims were mostly nursing mothers and children.

Daily Post reports that the attack which took place on Thursday night, September 7, left many others injured.

According to the reports, the gunmen attacked the town while residents were asleep killing anyone in sight.

A spokesperson for the state police command, Terna Tyopev, while confirming the attack, said the command was still waiting for details of the incident.

“Yes, we are aware of the attack, but we don’t have the details now.

“We are on our way to the scene of the attack to get first -hand information on the situation,” he said.

This report comes on the heels of complaints from the residents of Damboa town, Damboa local government area, Borno State, over incessant attacks on them by suspected members of the Boko Haram insurgents.

Daily Post reports that in the last two weeks, Boko Haram insurgents have killed 21 farmers in separate locations in the area.
