Police discover multi-million naira haulage company belonging to Kidnap kingpin

A multi-million Naira haulage company belonging to Evans, the notorious billionaire kingpin, has been discovered by the police in Lagos.

A statement from the State Police Command reveals that the police were able to trace and arrest Evans' secretary, Ngozika Ezeokoye, who had gone into hiding following his arrest in June 2017, while about 10 articulated vehicles were discovered truck yard.

According to the police statement, the multi-million Naira truck yard was acquired from the proceeds of kidnapping and armed robbery during Evan's reign of terror which spanned over 15 years.

During his interrogation, the Nnewi, Anambra State-born Evans had confessed that he had used the proceeds from kidnapping to establish several businesses including a haulage company that has not less than 10 trucks.

He was also said to have accessed the financial worth of some of his victims who patronized his haulage company and thereafter went after them.

The secretary who is now in police custody was said to have insisted that she never knew that her boss was into kidnapping.

“I used to work with a bank till I resigned because of the poor condition of work. I got a job with CMT Motors in 2015. Initially, our warehouse was in Apapa till they moved us to 235, Ago Palace Way, in Okota, in 2016.

My job was to take note of trucks that go to work, their destination and amount due for each trip. The company has eleven trucks and all the vehicles original documents in my possession.

The name of my boss is George Onwuamadike and every money is paid into Chinwuba Multi Trade Limited, or CMT.

I was paid N70,000 a month. I only knew about it on TV. I did not run away, I only traveled to visit my uncle in the village when I received a call that I should bring the documents. I was planning to come to Lagos when the police arrested me.”

The celebrated kidnap kingpin who was arraigned before a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja on Wednesday, August 30, and had initially pleaded guilty but his lawyer, Olukoya Ogungbeje, insisted that he was forced by the police into pleading guilty and would change his plea at the next adjourned date.
