'We are also feeling the pain of recession,' - Senate president says

Bukola Saraki, the Senate president said lawmakers are also feeling the pain of Nigeria's recession.

Saraki stated this on Friday, September 9, 2016, while speaking to journalists after the Jum'ah Prayers at the Aso Villa mosque.

“There is no Nigerian with blood flowing through that will not know that things are difficult now and we pray that with God’s guidance, he will see us through,"  Saraki said.

"As a country in this period, we will continue to pray. On Sunday, the day of Arafat, we offer prayers for our leaders and president so that we can do what is right; because we feel the pain, we know what the country is going through,"

“With prayers, Insha Allah, we will overcome (recession) it.

“The most important thing is for us to stay together and give the president support and continue to believe in this great country that we all have and be rest assured that we will all weather the storm and scale through together,"  the Senate president added.

Similarly, Vice president Yemi Osinbajo has said that Nigeria's current economic situation would soon be a thing of the past.

Osinbajo who spoke at the 8th convocation of the Redeemers University in Osun state on Thursday, September 9, 2016, blamed the current economic situation on the drop in the price of crude oil prices and activities of militants in the Niger Delta.
