Itse Sagay says Senate President’s acquittal by CCT is shocking

The CCT on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, declared that the Senate President has no case to answer.

According to Sagay, the prosecution presented enough evidence to secure a conviction.

He said “To start with, I’m shocked, because a lot of materials were put before the court. And for a court to uphold a no-case submission means that there was no prima facie case made.

“That’s why I’m a bit shocked because I followed the proceedings very closely.

“But there’s going to be an appeal. We’ll just wait and see happen then, but I’m thoroughly shocked, yes.”

Sagay also said that he was concerned that the CCT did not consider the evidence presented by the prosecution, weighty enough to secure a conviction.

Meanwhile, some associates of the Senate President have hailed his acquittal by the CCT, describing it as a victory from God.
