WHO urges Horn of Africa states to curb cross-border transmission of virus
Since Nigeria was removed from the Polio endemic list in 2015, only Afghanistan and Pakistan are still Polio endemic countries.

Mandlhate stated that because of conditions like insecurities, drought people tend to move across borders.
"So governments should improve surveillance at the border points to ensure that the virus is not transmitted across borders," Mandlhate said.

She further stated that although no Polio case has been reported this year, however regional governments should improve surveillance and routine vaccinations of children so has to end polio virus by 2019.
