Justice John Tsoho handed the case over to the Chief Justice of the Federal High Court, Ibrahim Auta for reassignment after he was accused of bias by Kanu’s lawyer.

“We are only asking the court to hands off; my client has lost confidence in this court. I would urge you that you transfer the matter; I would suggest that it be sent back to the CJ,” the lawyer, Chuks Muoma, said according to The Cable.

Justice Tsoho in turn said:

“I have no interest in trying your matter and I will return it to the CJ, but I will condemn the attitude of that counsel. I do not care if you take your case to another planet.”

Muoma also accused the judge of working to ensure that Kanu would never be released from prison in accordance with President Muhammadu Buhari’s wishes.

Kanu was arrested in October 2015 and is currently facing charges of treason.
