IPOB leader is a 'coward' - Ahmadu Bello's grandson

He said he would have dealt with Kanu long before he'd have had any time to cause tensions in the country.

The grandson to late Premier of the Northern region Sir Ahmadu Bello expressed his thoughts about the missing leader of the separatist group while addressing reporters for the celebration of Nigeria's 57th Independence anniversary on Sunday, October 1, 2017.

Danbaba said, "I find it difficult to understand what Nnamdi Kanu wants, bearing in mind the outcome of the secession attempt that led us into civil war.

"Honestly, if I were President Buhari, he wouldn't have the luxury of time he had in generating tension, caused untimely death of some before I descend on him.

"Where is the coward who was threatening that anyone, who comes to arrest him, will not leave Igbo land alive?"

Kanu has not been seen in public since September 14 when IPOB alleged that the Nigerian Army took him into custody, an allegation that has been strongly denied by the military and the presidency.

Former Abia state governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, has fueled other claims that the IPOB leader has fled the country saying he's been reliably informed that Kanu escaped to London through Malaysia.

On Wednesday, September 20, the Federal High Court in Abuja granted the Federal Government an interim injunction proscribing activities of IPOB.

Kanu, who is currently on bail on charges of treasonable felony, is expected to appear at the Federal High Court in Abuja on October 17 to resume trial.
