Why Buhari ordered for a comprehensive report

You will recall that the National Council on Privatisation (NCP), at its meeting of Feb. 27, 2012, approved the privatisation of NITEL and Mtel.

Explaining to newsmen why the President asked for a report, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Communications Technology,  Dr. Tunji Olaopa said “The President was concerned about the liquidation of NITEL.”

He also added that “He (President Buhari) is not opposed to its privatisation but he wants to know and wants us to bring a memo on how the whole transaction was undertaken so that he would know whether Nigeria was short-changed.”
