President extends condolences to Onitsha residents over tanker tragedy

Buhari extended his condolences on Monday, June 1, 2015, via a statement released by media aide, Garba Shehu.

 

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his sympathies to Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano and the people of Onitsha over the recent tanker fire tragedy in the state which claimed about 69 lives.

Buhari extended his condolences on Monday, June 1, 2015, via a statement released by media aide, Garba Shehu.

“My deepest sympathies are with you at this most trying time,” the President said.

He further described the incident as a sad and unfortunate loss, made even more unfortunate by the number of families who are currently mourning the loss of their loved ones.

The accident occurred on Sunday, May 31, when a fuel-laden tanker heading from Awka to Asaba rammed into the Asaba motor park and burst into flames.
