Kano Assembly moves to probe Emir of Kano over alleged corruption

The Assembly was said to have constituted an eight-man ad hoc committee to investigate the alleged misappropriation of N4 billion by Sanusi.

Reports said the monarch inherited the money from his predecessor, Ado Bayero.

According to The Cable, the Assembly decided to probe Sanusi after a member representing Nasarawa constituency of the state, Ibrahim Gama moved a motion on urgent public importance.

Gama said some of the allegations against the monarch should not be ignored.

According to him, some of the allegations include spending funds without the approval of the State Governor, Umar Ganduje.

He also said attacking the policies of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration and sending his daughter to represent him without wearing full traditional regalia are part of what should be looked into

After the Speaker, Alhassan Rurum, put the motion to a voice vote, the house adopted it.

The committee, chaired by the chief whip of the house, Labaran Abdul Madari, is expected to report back to the house in two weeks for further legislative action.
