Government collects N6B as revenue in 2015

He said that only 10 per cent of business men and women in the state paid taxes to the government which was effecting the revenue generation in the state.

The Sokoto State Board of Internal Revenue said on Wednesday that it had collected about N6 billion as internally generated revenue in 2015.

Chairman of the board Alhaji Musa Maccido, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that much would have been collected if the businessmen community had paid their taxes.

Maccido called on the government to set up mobile courts to prosecute defaulters.

He explained that such mobile courts across the state would facilitate payment of tax by the community when due.

He said that the board had taken concrete working measures to ensure proper collection of revenue generation in the state.
