Amadasun said the police command was living up to the task of protecting lives and properties in the state, particularly during festivals.

Enhanced IGR will solve salary crisis in Kwara - Gov. Ahmed

The Commissioner of Police in Kwara, Mr Esosa Amadasun, says 2,000 police personnel would be deployed to maintain security during the Sallah festival.

The commissioner made this known on Monday at a press conference in Ilorin where he paraded some suspects arrested for various offences in the state.

He said the beef up of security was based on information received that some public officers may be pelted with missiles and sachet water at the Eid praying ground in the state capital.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that among suspects paraded by the police commissioner was a cyber cafe operator who was arrested for allegedly selling fake police recruitment forms to unsuspecting members of the public.

He was said to have collected N450, 000 from one Olawuyi Olufemi to help him get admission into the university where the suspect claimed to be lecturing.

Also paraded were four suspects arrested for kidnapping one Aliyu Abubakar at Langorin Fulani Camp, Bode Saadu, Moro Local Government Area.

Another suspect was arrested for conniving with an anonymous phone caller to plan the kidnap of his brother, one Mohammed Keremi.
