Police says recruitment screening recorded large turnout nationwide

The statement said that the Inspector -General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, deployed commissioners of police to the various centres to join the commission in the screening.

This is contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by Mr Ikechukwu Ani, Head, Press and Public Relations of the commission.

It said that the exercise, which began on June 6, witnessed orderliness, peaceful conduct and large turnout of applicants in most of the centres.

``The exercise driven by the commission in collaboration with the Nigerian Police Force entered day two today.

``Officers of the Federal Character Commission are in all the 36 states of the federation and the FCT to monitor the exercise.

The statement said that the Inspector -General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, deployed commissioners of police to the various centres to join the commission in the screening.

It said that Mr Mike Okiro, National Coordinator of the exercise and Chairman of the commission commended the screening in most of the states describing it as very impressive.He noted that excellent arrangement had been put in place by the commission to make the exercise stress-free for the applicants.

Okiro said the commission would ensure that the exercise was not devalued at any point.

He said that the structure put in place would produce only the best for the Nation.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Police Affairs, Rep. Emmanuel Udende, has commended the commission for a well-coordinated exercise.

He said the exercise had brought a positive innovation in personnel recruitment, especially in the management of large number of applicants.

Similarly, Dr Nte Mbam, Commissioner, Federal Character Commission in Charge of Ebonyi, praised the commission for the arrangement.

He advised other agencies intending to go into recruitment to borrow a leaf from the on-going exercise.

Mbam commended the Synergy between the commission and the Ebonyi Police Command.
