Ex President says gay marriage law might be revisited

The former President said this today, Monday, June 6, 2016, at the Bloomberg studios in London, where he also spoke on issues concerning Nigeria.

Bloomberg TV reports that he also said Nigeria might revisit the gay marriage law which was banned in 2014, during his administration.

GEJ said “When it comes to equality, we must all have the same rights as Nigerian citizens.

“In the light of deepening debates for all Nigerians and other citizens of the world to be treated equally and without discrimination, and with the clear knowledge that the issue of sexual orientation is still evolving, the nation may at the appropriate time revisit the law.”

The former President also said President Buhari was not telling the truth when he announced to Nigerians that he met an empty treasury.

President Goodluck Jonathan signed a bill criminalising same-sex relationships in January 2014.

Femi Fani-Kayode also accused President Muhammadu Buhari of planning to legalise homosexuality in Nigeria.
