The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has called on Ogun Government to construct speed breakers on the newly constructed Ilo-Awela road in Sango-Ota to prevent crashes.

The in Ota Unit Commander of the corps in Ogun, Mr Leye Adegboyega, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Ota.

Adegboyega said that the construction of speed breakers in the area would check the excessive speed of drivers as well as avert road crashes.

According to him, the area is prone to accidents because of the sloppy nature of the road, making it dangerous, especially at night.

``We cannot continue to lose lives and property to accidents that can be prevented from happening,’’ he said.

Adegboyega said the FRSC command in Ota had pleaded with the Chinese construction company building the road to construct speed breakers on the road to check excessive speed and possible brake failure.

``The Chinese company, however, told us that construction of speed breakers was not part of its agreement.

``We are, therefore, appealing to the Ogun State Government to direct the contractor to construct speed breakers on the road urgently.’’

NAN recalls that an accident claimed two lives on Jan. 5, along the Toll-Gate.
